City Prepares Rp 400 Billion to Renovate Velodrome Stadium

Jakarta Provincial Government renovates some sport venues to welcome 2018 Asian Games. One of them is Velodrome Stadium in Rawamangun, East Jakarta that is budgeted by Rp 400 billion for multiyear work.

Jakarta Sports and Youth Department Head, Zainal Soleman explained, as the beginning, his side only budgeted Rp 10 billion this year for planning and designs, while the physical construction will be started on upcoming 2016.
"We use only City Budget (APBD) to renovate the Velodrome with total Rp 400 billion for 2015 and 2016 budget," told Soleman, Saturday (3/14).
City Awaits for President's Approval to Build Athlete's GuesthouseLater, the Velodrome that is provided for the bicycle race will become an international level stadium. Moreover, the renovation is targeted to completely finish in 2016.
"Currently, we still prepare tender process," he said.
According to Solemen, the Rp 40 billion budget will be used to repair supporting facilities around the stadium as the field, park, and others.
"We will use the budget to renovate all stadium facilities as supporting field because it should be an International stadium," he explained.
Besides the Velodrome, Aquatic in Gelora Bung Karno will also be renovated. But, the responsible party that will do renovation still yet decided because Gelora Bung Karno area is under Sports and Youth Ministry.
"About Aquatic, we still counting the cost while waiting the President instruction that will decide who is handle the renovation between City Government or Sports and Youth Ministry. If the President chooses us, we will include the project in Budget Revision," he disclosed.
